enLIGHTEN UP

I was in the energy bar area of the grocery store the other day was dismayed at how many things have apple or almond.  I wanted a nutty-fruity bar instead of the faux-candy bar type.

So when I found this I was curious:



Berry flavor sounded just right.  I can have most true berries.  It contains no apples or almonds, but it does have Wolf Berries and Hawthorne Berries!  I was so intrigued that I had to buy it.  I love it when products start including interesting fruits, especially when the fruits come from plants we usually consider ornamental.

Before eating it I decided to look up the berries, just to be sure.  Just my luck, Hawthornes (Crataegus) are not only in the Rosacaea family, they are in the same subfamily (maloideae) as apples.

I sure hope hypersteve or J like it.
